Just thought I would ask you guys about this one. Nightsweats perimenopausal or RA? Just get very hot at night hubby says I dont feel hot but most morning I have to shower as I stink. During the winter we have had a lot of bedding on as well as the heating and hubby says he gets very warm too. My periods are regular? Interested to know what you guys experience. Confused

Cool

PS I have been very stressed over family issues etc.

temperature regulation is something I struggle with. Also get very hot at night. I have a partial foam mattress and this does not help. I have now got a Cool Topper to help.

Thanks for the article and the tip Jenni. Thyroid function was checked and normal and I have been having these sweats since before diagnosis. Its not something that I have discussed with the consultant and its not something they have mentioned as a symptom of RA though it has been raised a number of times on the forum.

So interested in whether members experience this and think its RA or not. Confused

Hi Mari

I also have a wonky body clock! However, I don't really attribute mine to RA. The sweats started when I was 50 and going through the menopause. They have just carried on -so whether this is the normal for post-menopausal women or the RA has taken over, I just don't know. All I can tell you with certainty is that one minute I am freezing and the next opening all the windows and chucking clothes off!

Take care

Love Jeanxxxx

hi Mari,

I am sure mine is definitely due to the RA (or the drugs), having got through the menopause with HRT a few years ago.
I don't sweat , just get extremely hot, my husband says he can feel the heat radiating from me!
We got a Silent Night "Ambience" mattress topper which has helped a lot.

Are you taking any steroids? I got terrible sweats when I was on Prednisolone and I was only on 5mg.

Hi Mari,

This subject was the very first post I wrote on this new forum! I am not sure how one accesses old posts though?

RA definitely can increase body heat and cause night sweats, yes. It is an indicator that the disease is active.

I have had these for many years and they become worse whenever I have had a jab of steroid, whether in the behind or into the joints.

They are especially nasty and very uncomfortable aren't they? We always sleep with the window open..and very little on! LOL

Much love,

Amanda

I've reached the menopause and started getting hot flushes, day and night, before I got RA. As Amanda says though, I get night sweats when I have a flare/ RA more active.

Thanks for all the posts. Yes interestingly I am on steriods and only 5 mg too. Though I am farily sure I was hot stuff before I was diagnosed. I wonder is it possible that the RA is active even though in clincal RA terms I am doing well.

Amanda I think I remember your post or a similar post called hot stuff in bed? BigGrin

Jenni your terrible LOL
